Book description

A work with the same title as this one written by Dr. James Browne, a Scottish journalist and man of letters, and was released thirty years earlier. The purpose of Dr. Brown's work was to present in one book everything of interest and value concerning the highlanders and highlanders, with a large amount of information on this subject scattered at various addresses inaccessible to the general public. In preparing this work, this goal was constantly taken into account; and it can be said more forcefully than Brown that it is a collection of information about the Scottish Highlands of a volume and a kind that cannot be found in any other publication. Dr. Brown's overall work plan has been followed. This extensive work has been divided into several volumes in order to more extensively reveal the topics related to the Scotland Highlands. This book is the second part of a series. In the second part, relating to the history of the Highland clans, it will be discovered that changes and additions have been made for each clan. In some cases, the stories were completely rewritten, and several border clans were included that were not seen in Brown's work. The history of each clan, as far as possible, was traced from its founder through all branches and branches up to the moment of publication; participation in various clan strifes, in disputes between the Highlands and Lowlands, as well as in the general wars of Scotland. For most of the clans, the gentlemen who have deliberately studied the histories of the individual clans have graciously edited the evidence. The illustrations in this work are prideful. No attempt has been made to make the real work a simple picture book; it is invariably found that numerous plates, woodcuts and clan tartans either add interest to the text or shed light on it. Every effort has been made to preserve the authentic portraits and original views and to ensure that each illustration is performed in a purely artistic style; and it is hoped that the efforts of the editor and publishers have been crowned with success in this regard. Samples of clan tartans in all cases represent those recognized by the heads of various clans. Thus, illustrations will be considered valuable both from a historical and artistic point of view.

There is so much in this book that I'm not sure how to begin talking about it, and what exactly it was that I loved about it.
