Book description
A history of Gibraltar and its sieges – is a book, which was published in 1873 and written by J. H. Mann.
Gibraltar is a British overseas territory, disputed by Spain, in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, including the Rock of Gibraltar and a sandy isthmus connecting the rock with the Iberian Peninsula.
This book will tell the story of Gibraltar, describing the sieges to which it was subjected, while taking the famous Rock itself as a center around which the figures of the leaders who participated in its attack and defense can be placed.
Also travel with these champions to their own countries and trace the sources of their activities.
It is by no means desirable to omit the second section of our object and leave the champions to themselves before or after they leave the battlefield, for it is certainly true that if Gibraltar made them famous, they in their turn, by deeds done in others places, reflected the light on the noblest Rock.
