A Grammar of the Japanese Written Language

A grammar of the Japanese written language – is a grammar text-book of Japanese language written by William George Aston. He was a British diplomat, author and scholar-expert in the language and history of Japan and Korea. Also, he was one of the founders of British Japanese studies. Aston made a great contribution to the beginning of the study of the language and history of Japan in the 19th century. He was one of the three main British Japanese scholars working in Japan in the 19th century. Among his publications were two Japanese grammars from 1868 and 1872. This book is the third extended edition of Japanese grammar from 1872, published in 1904.
